Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is Oasis Network?

Oasis Network is the leading privacy-enabled and scalable layer-1 blockchain network to propel Web3 forward.

To learn more, please see their whitepaper.

  • What are validating and delegating?

Oasis blocks are produced by validators, and in order for Oasis to be stable and run securely, validators need to have the technical ability to provide a secure, always-on infrastructure.

Not everyone can do this. Some token holders participate indirectly by delegating the tokens they own to a validator. The validators are providing a service to the delegators. They usually charge a fee to cover their operating costs.

  • Where can I explore the network and create an Oasis wallet?

    Oasis explorer:

     https://oasisscan.com

     https://oasismonitor.com](https://oasismonitor.com/

    Oasis wallet:

    Web – https://wallet.oasisprotocol.org/

    Browser Extension – https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oasis-wallet/ppdadbejkmjnefldpcdjhnkpbjkikoip/

iOS or Android – by Bitpie

  • Why should you delegate?

By delegating to ROSE, you help to secure the network. You can be partially rewarded for this help provided by the protocol. If you plan to hold on to your ROSE for a period of time, delegating will help you accumulate more ROSE, counteract network inflation and contribute to the health of the network at the same time.

  • What happens to the ownership of ROSE after they're delegated?

You are not giving away ownership of ROSE by delegating. The validator you delegate your tokens to is not able to access your funds at any point in time since you are only delegating your staking rights. Your ROSE s always stay in your wallet and you may re-delegate them to another validator at any time.

  • When will I start getting rewards?

Oasis rewards are paid hourly at the end of each epoch. After the delegate is submitted, you will start receiving the reward after the first epoch (1 epoch = ~1 hour). Rewards are cumulative and automatically compounded every hour and they do not appear directly in your wallet.

You can check the status of your rewards on the Oasis Monitor: https://oasismonitor.com/

  • How long does it take to unstake my ROSE?

    In short: 14 days

From the moment you initiate the unbonding process, it takes 14 days to unstake. During this time you will not earn rewards. When the process is complete, you can transfer/trade your ROSE tokens.

  • Can my staked ROSE be slashed (seized or destroyed)?

Yes, a portion of your staked ROSE can be destroyed.

If you delegate to a validator that signs the same block twice with the same key, you will lose 100 of your delegated tokens and your validator will be permanently removed.

There will be no slashing for validator downtime.
